Abilities are those characteristics that are innate, and cannot be improved. Unlike Driving, or Gunnery, there is no training facility for a character's abilities, and they don't level by use.
The following are a character's abilities:
- Strength
- Affects how many hits a character can take before falling unconscious or dying
- Strong characters also are more likely to survive if they walk back to town (mainly just a guess)
- Increases odds in melee combat
- This increase is with Strength-based weapons (clubs, sledgehammers, baseball bats, etc.)
- Dexterity
- Affects accuracy with weapons
- Increases odds in melee combat
- This increase is with Dexterity-based weapons (swords, knives, other finesse-type weapons)
- Speed
- Fast characters fire earlier in the combat sequence
- Affects weapon reloading speed somewhat
- Affects running speed when on foot
