Possibly the best all-round weapon for combats and deathraces: the trusty old MG. You might think of this as an M1919 Browning .30 caliber machine-gun.
While it does little damage to armor at first, repeated impacts can take armor off your enemy in short order. It is light and has a high ammo capacity. The constant fire allowed before needing reloads allows you to prevent enemy crews from regaining their cool in the heat of a battle. It's hard to relax when you've constantly got bullets clanging against the hull of your car.
